STEM Haggadah

A STEM Haggadah Are you all ready for Pesach? Of course not! The list of things which require attention at Pesach time seems endless. I'm not here to help you clean, menu plan or decorate. I'm here to think about the children. Small children always require attention.  And to be learning. And to actively engage in open-ended learning. And to have Torah values in all of their thoughts. And of course STEM learning. Since these priorities were all at the top of your Pesach prep list, I have helped you out with a STEM Haggadah and Pesach toy. This Haggadah is a series of pattern block challenges. Pattern blocks were invented fifty years ago to enhance mathematical, geometric reasoning, critical assessment, and creative design.  Here is a video explaining it all, with a link at the bottom to print your own! Hebrew Word of Week: לַיְלָה Liyla = Night

Image
Hebrew Word of Week: לַיְלָה Liyla = Night One feature which marks Mondays in my classroom is the Hebrew Word of the Week (Hebrew WOW). A new Hebrew vocabulary word is introduced through a story or song. The word is reinforced through the week in a variety of ways, including coloring sheets. Here is a video for this week's word,   לַיְלָה   liyla  night. The word is of particular importance right now as we prepare for Pesach and    מה נשתנה  Mah nishtana, Why is this night different? https://youtu.be/Lwp94wgOaeg Here is a coloring page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hBNGkFjvEtWCljZMKwjUHiMiWCzs_LbLh_zh58ygba4/edit?usp=sharing

Mah Nishtana - Ashkenazic The fabulous educator, Moreh David, made me this video of the Ashkenazi Mah Nishtana. Remember how important your job is, Littlest Ones. And for my Sephardic brethren.

Mah Nishtana with our beautiful Turkish melody

Getting ready for Pesach is a little different this year, but it does not change the importance of the youngest at the seder reciting Mah Nishtana מה נשתנה The Four Questions.  Here is a video of my youngest and I, using the special melody used by our Turkish community.  Thank you David Maimon for providing the music. This story introduces the special role of the youngest to recite  Mah Nishtana  מה נשתנה The Four Questions.
